PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw has taken to Twitter and Facebook to further explain himself and the actions of his department.
The move is reaction to a Contact 5 investigation that exposed how the department spent years ignoring a judge's orders to release a deputy's background that included a criminal past and career record that included reprimands and a suspension.
Last month, the sheriff sat down with Contact 5 Investigator Katie LaGrone to explain why and how it happened.
NewsChannel 5 posted the full unedited interview on wptv.com Tuesday morning. After the posting, the sheriff's department did the same, posting its own recorded version of the unedited interview on the department's Facebook page. It's headline reads, "YOU BE THE JUDGE."
Sheriff Bradshaw pre-recorded the following :55 second introduction to the interview clip.
"I'm Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. What you are about to see is an interview between myself and a WPTV reporter regarding a deputy employed by this agency. This deputy has been employed with PBSO for over 8 years. During that time he's had a good record with our agency, numerous commendation letters and no sustained misconduct allegations. The focus of this interview is on the deputy's background before even starting his career with PBSO. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has over 4,000 dedicated professional employees. I can assure you that our goal is to provide you with the best educated, best trained and best equipped deputies. We have safeguards in place to make sure that our high standards are adhered to. We'd like to give you the opportunity to view this interview, unedited, in its entirety so you can make your own judgment. Thank you."
