23 year old off-duty deputy accused of shooting

The Contact 5 Investigators have learned the name of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy accused of shooting and critically injuring Aldo Alvarez.. He is 23-year-old Joshua McGehee.

McGehee, a 2011 graduate of the Palm Beach State College Police Academy, was hired by the sheriff's office on October 28, 2008, according to PBSO. His first job at PBSO was as an airport parking enforcement specialist.

The deputy became a sworn officer in July of 2011.  He was one of a select few, who in the past couple of years has been sponsored by the Sheriff's office to attend the police academy.

Sponsorship means his $3,670.14 tuition was fully paid for by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

A review of his internal affairs file with the agency shows he has not been involved in any internal investigations. He did receive recognition for being 'Deputy of the Month' in January, 2013.

He is related to a member of Sheriff Ric Bradshaw's staff.
