WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - They're hired to comfort and care.
"They're supposed to be professional service providers," said Mark Ardis, a patient of home health care services.
But some home health aides seem to care less.
"I'm opening the doors and she's not waking up," said Trish Armand as she watched a home health care aide sleeping on her couch one day. The aide was supposed to be tending to her six-year-old terminally ill son.
The Contact 5 Investigators did some digging and they found that a home health care agency can go three years without being looked at.
"I feel like they're hiring the bodies just to meet company quotas," Armand said.
The Contact 5 Investigators traveled all the way to Tallahassee to talk to the people in charge of overseeing the industry. Watch the full story on WPTV 11 p.m. Monday.
