ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - St. Lucie County Deputies have arrested James Richard Gabel, the former executive director of Arts and Cultural Alliance for grand theft, forgery and fraud, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
According to Mascara, Louis Craig Mundt, Chairman of the Board of the Alliance, discovered Gabel had forged Mr. Mundt's signature on four checks that totaling to $4,579.38.
The checks were written from December 2, 2013 to January 6.
This Thursday, Mr. Gabel came to the Sheriff’s Office at the request of detectives, and during an interview, he confessed to the forgeries and was taken into custody.
He was booked into the St. Lucie County jail under $90,000 bond.
