ATLANTA (AP) -- A city official in Georgia has been arrested on charges of willfully obstructing law enforcement and influencing a witness in the case involving a 13-month-old boy who was fatally shot last week.
Alan David Tucker, an attorney representing Brunswick city commissioner and mayor pro tem James Henry Brooks Sr., tells WTLF-TV (http://fcnews.tv/161O2Gc ) Brooks was arrested for stepping between police and the mother of 17-year-old suspect De'Marquise Elkins when police tried speaking with her during a court appearance Monday.
Sheriff's officials say Brooks is being held in the Glynn County jail on $1,256 bond on the obstruction charge, and is being held without bond on the charge of influencing a witness.
Tucker says will be at the District Attorney's office Friday morning to try to get Brooks out of jail.
