TGF-8: Is there a Cancer causing protein?

Researchers may have discovered a new target when treating an especially difficult breast cancer.

According to a reporting issued in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, a protein, named TGF-8, was seen by researchers as being visible in the cells of triple negative cancers--even after those cells underwent chemotherapy.

Researchers go on to say that the protein, in mouse studies, diverted cells down a path to becoming cancerous--or helped in the return of cancer cells after treatment.

Even more interesting, when the TGF-8 was lowered in mice, it stopped tumors from recurring.

Although more studies in humans are needed, it could help create a new and better cancer treatment.
