(WDIV) Ban Yaldoo wants to look good, but for this mother of two boys it goes a lot deeper than that.
"You have to stay healthy inside to feel good on the outside," said Yaldoo.
Doctor Samuel Fawaz says Yaldoo is one of his healthiest patients.
"A lot of people know what to do but frankly don't do it and when they don't do it catches up with them," said Physician Dr. Fawaz.
Doctor Fawaz says a sure sign we're aging too fast on the inside is how many younger people he is seeing with what was once thought of to be old age diseases.
"Coronary disease which is a condition you usually see in people in their late 50s 60s or 70s..I'm seeing in patients in their early 30s or 40s," said Dr. Fawaz.
People from thirty to forty years old are also developing type two diabetes.
Cardiologist Doctor Steven Almany knows all too well that heart disease remains the number one killer in this country, and there are signs that you could be at risk.
Something else that could be a warning sign is whether you have an earlobe crease.
Belly fat is a definite risk factor, even if you are slim everywhere else.
"If you have a lot of your far confined in that particular area that these people have a much higher incidence of heart disease. It's the hip to waist ratio, that's what we're looking at right now," said Dr. Almany.
Eating right, exercising, drinking lots of water and, protecting yourself from the sun are ways to invest in your future health.
