Autism Speaks C-Founder Bob Wright says CDC report shows need for more autism research

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - New numbers from the CDC suggest autism is an ever growing health crisis in this country. A CDC report says 1 in 68 U.S children have autism.

“This is sound the alarm. What more do we need… we’re still stuck with the same amount of research we’ve had for several years and we have trouble even keeping that up. It’s not nearly enough to deal with this,” said Autism Speaks C-Founder Bob Wright.

“We have whole communities that don’t have services and we have areas where diagnoses are still very hard to come by. There needs to be an emotion response by government as opposed to a defensive response, ‘we don’t understand it.’ It doesn’t make any difference if you understand it, it’s here,” he said.
