Barricaded man surrenders in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, FL -- Several roads were shutdown Monday evening on Seacrest Blvd at SW 1st Avenue for a person threatening commit suicide inside of an apartment complex.

Police were called to an apartment at 115 SW 1st Avenue for a 43-year-old man who family members reported being distraught and suicidal. When authorities attempted to located the subject around 230 p.m. no one was at the residence.

A hit and run accident occurred at 730pm in Delray Beach involving the subject authorities were looking for.

An attempt to locate the man was radioed to other law enforcement agencies.

When authorities made contact again at the residence later in the evening for a second time, a subject was seen inside of the apartment. One gunshot was also reported.

Police say the man is wanted on a violation of probation federal warrant by US Marshal's. The subject served time in prison for marijuana charges.

Neighbors told NewsChannel 5 they cannot leave their apartments at this time.
