NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Authorities are planning autopsies for former NFL quarterback Steve McNair and a 20-year-old woman both found shot dead in a Nashville condominium Saturday.
Police say the 36-year-old McNair was on the sofa in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head. Twenty-year-old Sahel Kazemi (kuh-ZEE'-mee), who police describe as a "friend" of McNair's, was very close to him on the floor. Police say a pistol was discovered near her body.
McNair's wife, Mechelle, is being described as "very distraught." Police say at this point they "do not believe she is involved." They say while nothing has been ruled out, they are not "actively looking for a suspect."
Police say a witness saw McNair arrive at the condo between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Saturday and that Kazemi's vehicle was already there. Their bodies were found yesterday afternoon.
Two days ago, Nashville police arrested Kazemi on a DUI charge while driving a 2007 Escalade registered to her and McNair. McNair was in the front seat.
