PUNTA GORDA, FL - The mother of a Fort Hood soldier shot in Thursday's rampage says she was on the phone with her son when the shootings started.
Roxanne Johnson of Punta Gorda, Florida says her 21-year-old son, Justin, was
shot in the chest and leg. She said she heard gunshots while they were talking on the phone.
"And I was talking to him and we were just joking around and then I heard this 'doosh doosh doosh' - in my ear and I said 'what is that'? So at first I just thought he was kidding around with me and turning up the video game. And then I said - 'Well, maybe it's a training exercise'.. so I started listening. And then I hear all this screaming. And the crying and then I said 'Wow - this sounds really life-like."
Hours later, post officials told her her son is out of surgery.
Thirty others were also wounded. 13 people were killed in the attack.
