South Florida restaurants with numerous violations and stop sales on food

WEST PALM BEACH - State inspectors found numerous violations at restaurants in our area. Sharky’s (1012 Shorewinds Drive, Fort Pierce) had the most violations with 32. The restaurant had two repeat violations. The first was raw fish over ricotta cheese in the reach-in cooler, and the second was accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine. The owner of the restaurant said after the inspection they had a thorough cleaning. He also said he has spoken with an electrician who will come and fix the lighting. He said they have complied with everything.

Jack’s Pizzeria (148 NW California Blvd., Port St. Lucie) was second on the list of total violations in our area with 29. Management said most of the problems were corrected on site. They also said a few little things needed to be done and they have since taken care of it.

Some restaurants in our area were issued stop sales on food due to potentially hazardous time/temperature issues. We placed calls to each of these restaurants to give them an opportunity to respond. Those restaurants are as follows:

Sonny’s Gelato Café (2151 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton) Management told us that the day manager has her certification, but she was out sick the day the inspector came by. They said they are working on getting all of the managers certified and they fixed the hand wash sink and the fridge is being repaired.

El Camino Mexican Soul Food & Tequila Bar (15 NE 2 Ave., Delray Beach) Management said the inspector found only a few warnings and most of them were corrected on site. The others violations have since been corrected.

Renzo’s Café Pizzeria (6900 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton) Management said their main concern is the safety of their customers. They took care of the few minor issues on site and they are always looking to make sure concerns are taken care of.

Spot Coffee (44 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach) Management said they only had a few issues and the case was fixed. As for proof of the required state approved employee training, they are working on resolving this issue.

Rapids Holdings Attractions LLC (6566 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach) Management said two of the violations took place in a snack bar that was not even open to the public that day. All of the issues were corrected on site and none of these issues ever endangered their customers.

Dough Boy Pizza LLC (3676 Collins Drive Suite 17, West Palm Beach) Management said the issues were minor and they corrected them.

Galaxy Diner (6590 S. Kanner Highway, Stuart) Management said the temperature in the walk-in fridge was off by just a few degrees because the employees were walking in and out of the fridge during lunchtime. The food that was off by just a few degrees as thrown out and all the issues were taken care of. The inspector came back the next day and said everything was in order.
