Peanut butter, Sunland recall: Almond, cashew butters and other nut products may contain salmonella

WASHINGTON - Some of the country's largest grocery stores are pulling store-brand products off shelves, because of a recall of peanut butter and other nut products possibly contaminated with salmonella.

That's because a New Mexico company, Sunland, is expanding its recall of peanut butter and almond butter. The recall now includes cashew butters, tahini and blanched and roasted peanut products that were manufactured between May 1, 2012 and September 24, 2012.

Federal health officials say there have been 30 salmonella illnesses in 19 states can be traced to the Trader Joe's peanut butter.
