It's being called a glimpse to the future of driving.
The car is called "Elio." It has just one door, three wheels and two seats. It costs $6,800.
"The vehicle does 0-60 in 9.6 seconds and its top speed is over 100 mph," said Elio Motors founder, Paul Elio. "We've engineered it to car standards. We believe it will achieve highest safety rating if it were tested as a car."
Paul Elio said his company is unlike any other car manufacturer.
"Our business model is unique. We have company-owned retail centers where you can purchase a vehicle. We only build it two ways, standard and automatic that's it. Both come with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, and a stereo standard. You can get all the upscale content you're used to being able to find on a car, leather seats, blind spot detecting mirrors, etc. But we add them post manufacturing instead of packaging them so you don't have to buy a bunch of stuff you don't want in order to get the stuff you do want. On the service side, we partnered with Pep Boys so we have 800 authorized service locations day one with that partnership."
