BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - State lab tests show three samples of gas taken from the Mobil station at Congress Avenue and Hypoluxo Road in Boynton Beach were contaminated with water, sediment or suspended material.
Six samples were taken during testing Monday. The questionable samples were mid-grade and premium gas.
The Consumer Watchdog first broke this story on Monday after drivers called to report their car wasn't driveable after filling up with gas on Saturday.
The state inspectors spent Wednesday morning at the station after the lab results came back. Signs are now posted on the pumps that say only regular gas is available. The signs apologize for the inconvenience.
Drivers said they are relieved the tests confirm their suspicions about the gas, and hope this brings them one step closer to getting compensated for the damage.
Earlier this week, Victory Petroleum told the Consumer Watchdog that it would cover repairs if state tests showed a problem with the gas. We are awaiting an update on Wednesday.
