Best and worst seats on an airplane flight

(EndPlay Staff Reports) Congratulations, Seat 6A: A new poll of more than 1,000 airline passengers reveals you are the most favored choice.

The poll by flight comparison website Skyscanner asked respondents about their seat preferences, including favorite section and window, middle or aisle seats. (Extra-leg-room seats were not one of the options.)

The poll also asked if passengers based their choices on factors such as lucky numbers or odd- versus even-row numbers.

Skyscanner combined its findings to reveal that seat 6A was the favorite, reported MarketWatch.

Sam Baldwi, Skyscanner's travel editor, said passengers seem to favor the front left side of planes. He said seat 6A is located close enough to the doors for easy exiting but still far enough away from the "hustle and bustle of the front toilets," reported The Daily Mail.

"Anecdotally, some passengers seem to opt for the middle section near the wings, where they are less likely to feel turbulence, while others want to be near the front for ease of getting off the plane, less engine noise or even to get a better choice of food available," Baldwi was quoted in MarketWatch.

"The window seems a popular choice for those looking to sleep, especially for long-haul flights, while those who take more trips to the toilet prefer the aisle so as not to disturb fellow passengers ... the aisle is also popular for tall passengers looking to stretch their legs."

On the flip side, the survey found that the least-desirable seat was 31E, a middle seat toward the back of an aircraft.

Among other findings: The number of passengers who prefer the window seat was 60 percent; 40 percent preferred the aisle; just 1 percent liked the middle seat.
