TAMPA - David and Carissa Meyer said they spent hundreds of dollars on a photography session and pictures, but the photographer did not hold up his end of the contract.
The Meyers found the deal on Groupon.
They felt confident in the photographer, who had no record of complaints. Still, something went wrong, and these consumers did not know where to turn.
Carissa and her husband found a Groupon deal that fit their need. The $545 price included a boudoir photography session and leather-bound album.
Carissa Meyer said she loved the photo shoot, which took place last April.
But she never received her album.
Meyer showed us multiple emails she sent over a period of four months to Pravae Boudoir Photography, asking about the missing photo book.
The customer still has the Groupon coupon and proof of payment.
Last month I contacted the owner of Pravae Boudoir Photography.
In an email, he explained. "The delay was due to an error at the printer and then a personal situation. This is not normal as I am very timely in getting my products to my clients."
Three weeks later, Meyer received her album, and the photographer offered a $125 refund for her time and trouble.
The Meyers said they did not know they might have had recourse with Groupon. The deal company promise guarantees a purchaser's satisfaction.
On its website, the Groupon promise states: "If you use a Groupon voucher before its promotional value expires, take a getaways trip, or attend a Groupon live event and are disappointed by your experience, we'll work with you to make it right or give you a refund."
And had Carissa paid by credit card and filed a dispute within the designated time frame, which can be anywhere from two to six months, she might have gotten a full refund.
