May the charcoals stay hot this summer.

More than 150 million Americans will celebrate Independence Day with a cookout this year, according to the National Retail Federation. Hot dogs, hamburgers and potato salad will surely be offered up but what new recipes will be tried on the grill this year?

The folks at Pinterest have compiled the most-shared barbecue recipes per state onto one page, dubbed the “United States of BBQ.” The results revealed a few surprises, including a shift from using traditional cookout meats.

“[Since May] on Pinterest, there have been 75 percent more turkey burger pins than hamburger pins,” a spokesperson for the social media company said. Although chicken was revealed as the main ingredient in more than half of the state-by-state most-pinned recipes.

A few of the most unique recipes that proved popular include Crockpot Dr. Pepper Barbecue Chicken (Arkansas), Honey Balsamic Barbecue Meatballs (Rhode Island) and Korean Barbecue Ribs with Sweet & Sour Barbecue Sauce (Nevada).
