PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Cameras captured a wild school bus ride in Palm Beach County. Students panicked when the brakes appeared to fail on their way home from Spanish River High School.
Parents and students are now wondering if buses at the Palm Beach County School District are safe.
The video shows moments of terror as the 40 foot long school bus zooms down a busy road in Boca Raton moving against traffic -- without a way to stop.
"It was a very scary moment. I was so nervous about everything that was going on," said bus rider Nadya Williams.
Williams was on the bus along with three other friends heading home from Spanish River High School.
They spoke with the permission of their parents. They said there was first a noise -- then smoke -- then a brakeless free fall down Glades Road.
"We're trying to get help and everyone is honking. Other cars, everyone is honking and waving at us like we're playing a game," said Monica Hopfensperger, another bus rider

The bus driver dodged car after car flying down the wrong way of the road.
"Oh I really thought we were going to kill somebody," bus rider Laticia Leon said. Miraculously no one was hurt.
The bus driver eventually brought the bus to a halt by rubbing its tires against the curb.
"I don't know what we're going to do about taking the bus home from now on because if that's the way they're kept, it's a problem," said parent Richard Leon.
The school district released this statement:
"The bus driver took the proper corrective action in order to bring the bus to a full stop. The brake malfunction is under investigation."
The girls credit their bus driver for their lives.
"She was telling us 'calm down, don't worry.' The fact she did what she did, it's better than I hoped for and I am happy she did what she did."
