Fuel filter

Last Update: 3/28/2003 1:53 pm
The fuel filter is one of several filters found in today's engines. All are vital for optimum performance and a longer engine life. Your engine is a very precise machine with hundreds of quickly moving parts interacting within a compact space. Foreign material entering this bustle of activity is not a welcome visitor. That's why filters play such a vital role in engine performance. One of the most important is the fuel filter. Fuel filters are located in one of three places. On the fuel pump, on the fuel line or on the carburetor. As you may have guessed, the fuel filter cleans the gas coming from the tank. It removes dirt and other foreign material before the gas enters the carburetor. Most fuel filters are made of paper and are disposable.
