The baby, named Laini (meaning fragile/endangered in Swahili), was born around 10pm on Thursday, April 28th.

Laini was born to mom Bloom after a 16 month gestation.

Laini and Bloom are now on display in the rhino maternity area of the drive-through safari at Lion Country.

Mom and baby will remain in the rhino calving pen for approximately three months, to give them bonding time and to protect them from other animals.

After that, they will roam freely in Lion Country Safari’s Hwange National Park with the other White Rhinos, including dad Ronnie.

Lion Country Safari is home to 13 White Rhinos - 3 males and 10 females. Since 1979, Lion Country Safari has had 32 rhino offspring.
