Weird Al Yankovic scores his first No. 1 album on the Billboard charts with 'Mandatory Fun'

For the first in his 35-year career, Weird Al Yankovic has scored a No. 1 album.

His newest album Mandatory Fun was released on Tuesday, July 15, backed by a promotional schedule of music video debuts leading up to the release.

Weird Al created a good bit of buzz by releasing a new video each day from the new album for eight consecutive days.

Mandatory Fun is his 14th studio album and follows his successful formula of putting the "Weird Al" spin on popular hits like Pharrell Williams' "Happy", Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines", Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" and others.

Al tweeted his disbelief early Wednesday morning at the news:
