You may not be aware of it, but this Thanksgiving holiday, pizza will be among the most served dishes at the dinner table.

Thanksgiving Eve is one of the top five busiest days for pizza sales, because people don't have the time or energy to cook the night before the biggest meal of the year.

"Leave it to us!" said Gregory Schaller, an employee at Cosmo's Pizza in Denver. "Leave the driving and cooking to us!"

Cosmo's expects to sell 30 percent more pies Wednesday -- at times -- cooking 50 pizzas every half hour. Extra workers came in early to get a head start on the evening rush.

"Once the other restaurants and stuff close down for the night, we'll probably get hit with a good group of people who came to hang out with high school buddies and college friends they don't get to see all the time," said Schaller.

The deliveries started Wednesday morning and will not stop until early Thursday.

"Busy means business, and business means money," said Russell Tutt, a pizza delivery driver.

Customer service matters on Thanksgiving Eve because happy customers are more likely to buy from the same pizza shop on the other busiest days of the year, and some are quickly approaching.

Super Bowl Sunday ranks number one, followed by New Year's Eve and Halloween. Thanksgiving Eve and New Year's Day round out the top five.

Cosmo's workers joke if you are hungry for pizza on Thursday, you will have to settle for leftovers.

"Cold pizza, if you don't like the turkey," said Schaller.
