Star Wars Episode VII begins filming

Star Wars is back in production.

Bad Robot, the production company owned by director J.J. Abrams, tweeted a photo of the scene board for Episode VII. The accompanying caption said simply "#dayone," indicating that filming began Thursday.

Earlier this month, the cast for the film was revealed to include Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in reprisals of their roles as Luke, Leia and Han. New faces in the film franchise will include actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

The screenplay for the seventh film was penned by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams.
