Richard Attenborough: British actor-director has died, son tells BBC

LONDON (AP) -- British actor-director Richard Attenborough has died at 90, his son has told the BBC.

His family is expected to make a full statement tomorrow, according to the BBC .

According to IMDb, he won the 1982 Academy Award for Directing for the movie Gandhi. As the film's producer, he also won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

He won back-to-back Golden Globe Awards in the category of Best Supporting Actor for The Sand Pebbles in 1966 and Doctor Dolittle in 1967, according to IMDb .
