(CNN) -- Former broadcast news reporter and anchor Garrick Utley, who served NBC News as a foreign correspondent for decades before reporting for ABC and CNN, has died at age 74 after a battle with cancer, NBC reported on its "Today" show Friday.
Utley covered the Vietnam War for NBC in the 1960s before serving as the network's correspondent in several European capitals. He also was a weekend anchor of the "NBC Nightly News" and a moderator of the network's weekly "Meet the Press" interview program.
Utley was ABC News' chief foreign correspondent in the mid-1990s, and served as a contributor for CNN from 1997 to 2002.
