NEW YORK - West Palm Beach singer Cassadee Pope rose to fame and won "The Voice" on NBC. NewsChannel 5 took the trip to New York City to follow her on her publicity tour.
The tour Thursday took Pope through appearances an interviews with the Today Show, Anderson Cooper on CNN, Live with Kelly and Michael, TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly and more. It came after an interview with Jay Leno and a red eye flight from Los Angeles.
Pope is looking forward to more rounds of interviews Friday.
"It kind of took a second to let it sink in that I was going to these shows that I wake up in the morning and watch all the time," she said.
As several of the big names of television and entertainment recognized her around the city, Pope began to realize that even famous faces know her face now, having watched her show.
"You never think that celebrities do normal things like that, but they do, and you kind of take a step back and say, they are normal people too," Pope said.
The Florida-grown singer says she almost didn't try out for the show. She won.
Thursday, was the first day of the rest of her career.
"I want to have radio singles and be touring the world and have a huge fan base," she said.
The local vocal sweetheart turns to thank supporters, feeling like her success is built on those who have cheered her on.
"Just walking around the city it's crazy how people even know my name just walking around. It's definitely surreal and it's changing my life already," she said.
Pope says she continues to write songs inspired by memories in Florida and what she has learned over the last year. She plans to have her first single complete by mid-January.
