Police say they found the body of 37-year-old Robert Labranche on the ground shortly after hearing shots fired in the neighborhood.
The Herald reports Labranche was known as Bizzle or Chowtime.
Miami police spokesman Willie Moreno says a highly emotional crowd gathered outside the car wash and two relatives had to be briefly detained to protect crime scene evidence. Moreno says Labranche was "definitely loved in the community."
Two children younger than 10 were in SUV Labranche was driving. Moreno says they were not hurt and didn't see the shooting.
Moreno says no arrests had been made. They are searching for a man seen running from the area after the shooting.
