National Hurricane Center monitoring system given 20 percent of developing

An area of low pressure over Cuba is being monitored by the National Hurricane Center.

They have dubbed the area of showers and thunderstorms “Invest 94-L” which means that are investigating the characteristics of the system.

Currently, there is a 20% chance that this low will develop into a tropical or subtropical cyclone. Regardless of development, the system will not have a significant impact on our forecast as it is far enough to the south and east.

By Saturday, this low is expected to be parallel to the Carolinas over the Atlantic before making a U-turn and heading back for the coast of Georgia and North Florida.

The only influence on our weather from Invest 94-L will be an increased chance of rain for the Treasure Coast or increased risk of dangerous rip currents toward Sunday and Monday (Memorial Day).

The remainder of the area will actually be quite nice for a majority of the weekend as dry air is drawn in by the system.
