We have been watching a developing area of low pressure for the past three days, as it moved out of the Caribbean, across Cuba and the Florida Keys, and now over toward the Bahamas.

The computer models do show some development of this system over the next couple of days, possibly becoming a tropical or subtropical storm by Sunday morning or sooner.

The National Hurricane Center has now bumped up the chance of development to 70 percent.

If that happens, the storm will be too far north to have any direct impact on our area, so we don't have to worry about tropical or subtropical storm conditions in South Florida.

Folks along the South Carolina, Georgia, and North Florida coasts will have to watch this situation closely.

Now, with that said, if a storm does develop and moves into North Florida over the weekend, that may increase our rain chances on Sunday, so we could see a few more showers and thunderstorms in the middle of our holiday weekend.
