Superstorm Sandy: Snow, blizzards created in mountains

Sandy is still is a force to be reckoned with.

The storm has moved well inland, but remains both disruptive and destructive.

The remnants of Hurricane Sandy mingled with a cold front to become a full-blown blizzard in the mountains of West Virginia on Tuesday.

The snow stretched as far south as the North Carolina mountains, and west into Kentucky and Ohio.

Over Lake Michigan, Sandy kicked up waves high enough to force evacuations.

High winds also fueled the battering Lake Erie gave to Cleveland, where power outages were widespread.

Sandy's impact continues in the nation's airports.

Another 6,000 flights into and out of the Northeast were canceled again Tuesday.

Flights to and from overseas have also been canceled as well, stranding thousands in airports on both sides of the Atlantic.
