Friday marks the end of hurricane season.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, this year's Atlantic Hurricane season produced 19 named storms.
The average is usually 12.
10 storms were also hurricanes -- a number also above average.
Hurricane Isaac, which was a tropical storm when it passed South Florida, inundated parts of Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast with more than 20 inches of rainfall. Many homes were flooded as a result of the heavy rain.
Hurricane Sandy caused major damage in the northeast, especially New York and New Jersey. It also caused beach erosion in South Florida.
Only one storm became a major hurricane, below the usual three.
Based on all that activity the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane season has been classified as "above-normal."
