CLEARWATER, Fla. - Repeated trips to a local convenience store paid off big time for a Clearwater waitress who found herself with a rare $1 million Florida Lottery scratch-off ticket.
21-year-old Alexandra Chaar, who is also going to college, said she had been feeling lucky lately and made a number of trips to the Food Mart at 610 Mandalay Avenue in Clearwater Beach.
“I kept going back to the same store to buy them, the people who work there got to know me,” Chaar said in a statement from the Florida Lottery.
The winning ticket was a $10 scratch-off called $1,000,000 MONOPOLY. Hers was one of ten $1 million prizes.
There are two $1 million prizes remaining, according to the Florida Lottery.
Chaar planned to take a lump-sum payment of $700,000.
She said she plans to use some of the money to pay for tuition.
And will she quit her job?
“No way,” Char said in the statement. “I love where I work!”
