GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say University of Florida freshman tight end A.C. Leonard was arrested on a simple domestic battery charge.
Gainesville police say the 20-year-old got into an argument with his girlfriend Wednesday night.
According to a police report, Leonard shoved the woman to the ground, causing her to hit her head on a dog cage. She told police Leonard had told her to leave the apartment they shared.
The arrest report says Leonard grabbed the woman by both feet and pulled her out of the apartment when she refused to leave.
Police say the woman had scrapes and bruises on her arms.
Leonard was released on his own recognizance Thursday by Alachua County Judge Tom Jaworski.
A school spokesman declined comment on Leonard's arrest.
According to Jacksonville.com Leonard is the ninth UF football player to be arrested since coach Will Muschamp was hired in January of 2011. Jacksonville.com said former coach Urban Meyer had 25 players arrested, 31 total incidents, in his six seasons with the Gators.
