BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- The American Basketball Association is planting an expansion franchise in Palm Beach County.
Say hello to the South Florida Gold.
The team is owned by Mike Watson and held its first tryout at LA Fitness in Boynton Beach on Sunday.
Lynn University in Boca Raton is a potential home court for the Gold whose season tips off in November.
Larry Brown and former NBA star Robert Reid will lead the team on the coaching side.
Their focus right now is trying to build a championship program.
