TAMPA, Fla. - If Tampa's wish is granted, the city will host its fifth Super Bowl.
Three weeks ago, leaders submitted their interest to bid to the National Football League.
"We're really excited about the potential for it," said Rob Higgins, executive director for Tampa Bay Sports Commission. "There was no hesitation. As soon as we got the letter from NFL, we turned it around quickly to get our name in the hat."
The cities within that hat, which include Indianapolis and New Orleans, will be narrowed down in October by the NFL. Then a winner will be announced in May 2014.
