What was Urban Meyer thinking? Game in hand, and his star player still in the game.
It was a costly miscalcuation. Tim Tebow is back in Gainesville with a concussion.
I can tell you without even sitting in that Florida locker room tonight, Urban Meyer is saying to himself, "Why did I have Tebow playing when the game was a lock."
If he isn't, there are thousands of Gator fans who should.
Tebow got his bell rung big time on a blitz by Kentucky where he not only got blindsided with a legal hit to the chest, but his helmet collided with a Florida lineman's knee when he was going down.
Tebow's neck was snapped forward. He was knocked out for a moment.
Tebow laid on the ground for some time before he was taken to the bench. His parents were briefed in the stands about their son's condition. From the bench, Tebow was taken on a cart to an awaiting ambulance for further tests.
It no secret, Tebow has made a living going helmet to helmet in that option offense. He was won all the battles. But not this one tonight.
With the game in hand, and a defense that was shutting Kentucky down series after series, why in the world was Tebow in the game at that point!
That was my thought even before he got waxed.
Tebow was one 30 some players suffering from the flu to begin with.
Can't wait to hear Urban Meyer's response.
The good news is Florida has an off-week ahead before heading to Baton Rouge to play LSU.
The TBD news: Will Tim Tebow be under center in two weeks?
The Gators national championship hopes hinge on it.
