MIAMI - After spending 18 months as the University of Miami's athletic director, Shawn Eichorst is moving on.  Sources told the Associated Press Thursday before the university made the announcement public.

Eichorst was hired in April 2011 to head the troubled department.  The Hurricanes' compliance practices have been under NCAA investigation throughout his tenure, an inquiry that began after a former booster told Yahoo Sports he provided athletes and recruits with impermissible benefits over an eight-year period starting in 2002.

Various reports in Nebraska have identified Eichorst this week as a candidate to replace retiring Tom Osborne as the Cornhuskers' athletic director.

School officials are working on finding a replacement.

Information from the Associated Press was used in this report.
