WASHINGTON (AP) -- A person familiar with the situation says Robert Griffin III's surgery is over, with repairs made to two knee ligaments.

The Washington Redskins quarterback had surgery Wednesday morning on a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. The person said the procedure also repaired damage found in Griffin's ACL.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Redskins had not made an announcement about the latest details surrounding the rookie quarterback's injury.

Griffin sprained the LCL last month and reinjured the knee in Sunday's playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He also tore the ACL in the same knee while playing for Baylor in 2009.

The person did not give an immediate assessment of Griffin's potential recovery time.
