PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.-- Professional golfers at the Honda Classic each have an important relationship with their caddies, but one pair is unique.
The job of a caddie goes far beyond carrying a bag of clubs. It takes technical assistance, patience and trust.
The tiny adjustments a golfer makes can be smaller than a blade of grass. They can mean the difference between success or failure. Minutia can make for a win and a good caddie can help.
Professional golfer Patrick Reed says his caddie is with him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
"She is there during all practices, all lessons so if I'm going to trust anybody when it comes down to yardages, swing or anything like that. I mean, there is no one else to trust but your wife," he said.
His wife is his caddie. Justine married Patrick in December.
Tournament organizers say it's been years since a wife worked as a caddie at the Honda Classic.
"We balance each other out pretty well so I feel like that's what makes it work for us," Justine said.
The pair says the decision to make this partnership was easy.
"It just clicked, it worked. I was struggling through the round, 110 degree heat in Houston, and she's just like, ah, it's nothing," Patrick said.
The bag weighs 45 to 60 pounds, no problem for athletic Justine.
"It's been a great learning experience for both of us and we've really grown a lot together. On the course and off," Justine said.
"I have the cutest caddy, I mean, that's the easiest, you know, I win that hands down," Patrick laughed.
"I just try to fit in like everybody else and just do my job and do it well," Justine said.
