West Palm Beach, Fla. -- Northwood University's Ra'Shad James is the ultimate dunk artist.
The senior guard began his high-flying antics on the court back in the 8th grade.
"I just pretty much took it from there," James told ESPN 760's Emerson Lotzia . "Coordination and everything started coming into play and then my jumping ability went through the roof."
You can clearly see that when you watch the video attached to this story.
James was recently named one of 16 nominees for the State Farm Dark Horse Dunker competition. Seahawks head coach, Rollie Massimino, calls James one of the best dunkers in college basketball.
State Farm Dark Horse Dunker nominees are under-the-radar players who have what it takes to compete against the D-I field in Atlanta. The winner will participate in the Denny's Slam Dunk Competition during Final Four weekend on April 4 in Atlanta on ESPN.
All sixteen dunkers will compete in the State Farm Dark Horse Dunker Facebook bracket challenge, which is a five-week knockout competition. Fans will determine the winner by voting during each round on Facebook .
James is facing-off against Western Washington's Rico Wilkins in the first round. Voting for round one ends Monday, Feb. 25.
