Video of French athlete Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad has gone viral after he was caught shoving a mascot, later identified as a costumed 14-year-old girl.
The 27-year-old won gold in the European Championship's 3000 metre steeplechase in Helsinki Sunday when he pushed the girl.
Instead of showing happiness for his win, Mekhissi-Benabbad moved toward the mascot, known as “Appy," smacked a bag out of her hands and pushed her down.
According to the age.com.au, championship organizers are very angry with Mekhissi-Benabbad's actions.
