KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police in Kansas City have released exclusive new information about the hours before Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher shot and killed his live-in girlfriend and then took his own life.

Belcher shot Kasandra Perkins multiple times at about 7:45 a.m. in the home they shared in the 5400 block of Crysler.

He then drove to Arrowhead Stadium, where he talked with Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli , head coach Romeo Crennel and defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs in the parking lot of the training complex.

According to police, Belcher said he was “waiting for his girlfriend” when an officer found him sleeping in his car outside an apartment complex at about 2:50 a.m. in the 700 block of E. Armour Boulevard.

The officer knocked on the window and woke him up. Belcher dialed a number on his cell phone, and a woman - not believed to be Kasandra Perkins - came out of the apartment complex and let him in, police told 41 Action News.

Authorities have also released exclusive information about the weapons used in the shootings.

Belcher used a different handgun to take his own life than he used to kill his live-in girlfriend, police said.

Both guns were legally registered, according to police.
