WWE wrestler 'The King' suffers heart attack in Montreal

Legendary Memphis wrestler Jerry Lawler collapsed at a match in Montreal on Monday night.

According to the WWE wrestling website, Lawler collapsed at the announcer's table at a Monday Night Raw match in the Canadian city. He was then taken to the locker room to be treated by medical staff, then transported to a Montreal hospital.

Various websites are reporting from the arena that medical staff performed CPR on Lawler.

Announcer Michael Cole later said that Lawler was receiving oxygen but breathing on his own en route to the hospital.

As the show went off the air, Cole said in an update that Lawler was "breathing on his own and his heart is beating on its own" as hospital personnel prepared to run tests. He said Lawler's condition had stabilized.

The Miami Herald reported that earlier in the show, Lawler, 62, competed in a tag-team wrestling match, partnering with Randy Orton against WWE champ CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler. It said Lawler also commentated before and after the match.

The WWE later released this statement:

Jerry “The King” Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal.  We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.
