NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NHL announced that the pre-season game between the Florida Panthers and Carolina Panthers has been cancelled due to the threat of Tropical Storm Nicole. The announcement came on Tuesday, more than 24 hours before the scheduled game in Sunrise.
In a statement released by the NHL, Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said, "We felt that it was in the best interest and safety of our fans, our players and the Carolina Hurricanes to cancel Wednesday's game due to the threat of the impending tropical storm."
The game will not be rescheduled.
