BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Florida Atlantic has hired Patrick Chun as its new athletic director, announcing the move Monday.
Chun comes to FAU from Ohio State, where he was the executive associate athletics director for external relation. At FAU, he replaces Craig Angelos, whose contract was not renewed in March.
At Ohio State, the 37-year-old Chun oversaw a 20 percent increase annually in overall giving to the athletic department, totaling almost $118 million in three years. FAU President Mary Jane Saunders said the school was looking for someone with a strong track record in fundraising.
In a statement, Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer said that FAU will "embrace this young man, who is a rising star in athletics administration."
Chun's career started in Ohio State's athletic communications department in 1997.
