It was a big Monday night for the University of Miami. After weeks of allegations and suspensions after players took impermissible benefits, it was finally time to play ball.
Fans packed into Duffy's Sports Grill in Palm Beach Gardens to watch.
"It's going to be a really good game," said one fan.
As the players put on their game faces, so did the fans.
"I am really eager for the new season to start," said Dan Hauser.
Amidst all the green and orange fans and alumni who make up the Palm Beach County Canes Club, there was still some serious talk about the dark cloud hanging over the program.
"I'm kind of upset over the problems we had," explained Pattie Scholz.
Eight players were suspended for game one and three others will miss more than one ball game.
Fans say they are counting on Coach Al Golden to help weather the storm.
In the end, Maryland beat the Hurricanes, but fans say they're confident they'll come out on top.
