BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Florida Atlantic University’s football team officially began the 2013 football season with its first official practice of fall on Saturday morning.
“I liked the effort,” said Pelini. “Conditioning-wise there is no comparison in terms of the physical preparation (between 2012 and 2013). I expect a big jump in the second practice. We are a much faster team than we were a year ago.”
The players moved from drill to drill without the constant reminder to pick up the pace.
The squad also moved through four rotations of 7-on-7 and was able to begin work on team drills with ease compared to year one under Pelini.
Following practice senior Mustafa Johnson addressed the media.
“Today was day one,” said Johnson.
When pressed how the offensive line looked he said “Like day one and tomorrow we will look like day two. You have to have the mindset that each time you come out here you are going to improve. We will take it one day at a time.”
The Owls open up the season at Miami on August 30. Kickoff for the Friday night contest is set for 8 o'clock.
