COPLEY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A 75-year-old Ohio man says he found several neighbors dead, saw a gunman wound a woman and then ran for his life during a series of shootings that killed eight people.
Gilbert Elie says he was getting ready for church Sunday morning when he heard gunshots and cries for help in his neighborhood in Copley Township. He says he went across the street and saw a woman in the driveway, a man shot near a garage, and a woman and a girl who had been shot in a vehicle.
Elie says another woman came out of the house next door and tried to talk to him, but her boyfriend followed and shot her. Elie ran for safety behind a truck and didn't see what happened next.
Police say they later killed the gunman.
