COLUMBUS, Ohio - After more than a week of rumors and speculation, it’s official: Urban Meyer will be the next head coach at Ohio State.
Multiple sources are reporting that Meyer’s agent, Trace Armstrong, confirmed Monday morning that the former Florida Gators coach would be returning to his native state Ohio.
Meyer left his job with the Gators because of health issues last year and has been working as a college football analyst for ESPN this season. He lead the Gators to two national championships.
In the week before the OSU-Michigan game, interim head coach Luke Fickell tried to keep the rumors at bay and keep the focus on the game. The Buckeyes lost to Michigan 40-34, in OSU's first loss to their rival in seven years.
Former OSU head coach Jim Tressel resigned in May after several players were accused of accepting gifts.
